Mindful Self-Compassion Spring 2024

An invitation to be kinder to yourself, to handle difficult emotions more easily, to motivate yourself with encouragement rather than criticism and to begin to transform relationships.

Are you harder on yourself than others? More than a thousand research studies show the benefits of being a supportive friend to yourself, especially in times of need. This 8-week course is designed to help you break free of harsh self-judgments and impossible standards in order to cultivate emotional well-being. It has also shown to be particularly effective in managing burn out in healthcare workers and other caring professions. It provides powerful tools for coping with life challenges and enhancing emotional well-being. The practice of self-compassion also helps to grow and sustain our compassion for others.

This course is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning more about how to support themselves and others (family, staff, patients) to develop more skillful responses to difficult situations. If you have attended the Short Course – Mindful Self-Compassion this would be a valuable next step to strengthen what you have learned, though it is not a pre-requisite to attending the full course.

Developed by Christopher Germer and Kristin Neff, facilitated by Jennifer Kilimnik and Andrew Terhoch.
