An Honorary Diploma for Julie Turenne-Maynard

26 September, 2024 | Profiles

If you’ve spent any amount of time in our network, you’ve most likely heard of Julie Turenne-Maynard. She has been a staunch supporter and tireless volunteer for so many of our network members, and she was recently celebrated with an Honorary Diploma from Université de Saint-Boniface.

Turenne-Maynard has a career and volunteer record that touches almost every sector and important cause to the francophone community in Manitoba. She began her career working alongside well-known architect Étienne Gaboury as his office manager and has moved her way through various leadership roles in health, social services, tourism, economic and faith-based organizations.

To Réseau Compassion Network, she is most known as a dedicated board member, along with her role as Executive Director of Catholic Health Association of Manitoba, Interfaith Health Care Association of Manitoba and Manitoba Association of Residential & Community Care Homes for the Elderly (MARCHE). She has volunteer on the boards of Centre Flavie, Abri Marguerite, Charités Despins (Villa Aulneau and Résidence Despins) and since November of 2023, Réseau Compassion Network itself.

Besides her board involvement, Turenne-Maynard has been instrumental in many fundraising campaigns that have had major impacts on our communities. She has supported St. Boniface Hospital, L’Entre-temps des franco-manitobaines (now ChezRachel), and the Archdiocese of St. Boniface.

Truth be told, one article is not enough to contain all the ways that Julie Turenne-Maynard has helped shaped our communities and organizations. Her list of volunteer roles is pages long, but suffice to say, she has made a difference in thousands of lives, many times over. Her special dedication to the francophone community has strengthened services, programming and the organizations themselves.

Réseau Compassion Network was proud to supply a letter in support of her Honorary Diploma. In the letter, Turenne-Maynard’s achievements were highlighted but so was her generosity of spirit and of time. “She has never hesitated to share her ideas, her knowledge and her enthusiasm with anyone who needed an extra hand,” shares Réseau Compassion Network CEO, Daniel Lussier. “You always knew that if Julie was involved, good things would happen. She has truly been an engine of change in our community, pushing projects forward and leading the way for so many.”

On behalf of the network organizations that have benefitted from Julie Turenne-Maynard’s gifts, and indeed, the entire francophone community in Manitoba, we send our heart-felt thanks to a tireless advocate, champion and a woman who has left her unique mark across our community and continue to do so.
