Employee Spotlight: Jocelyne Nicolas

18 June, 2021 | Profiles

Meet our Communications Specialist, Jocelyne Nicolas. Jocelyne interviews people in our community to gather information about the good work they do, she writes articles for our monthly newsletter, she plans campaigns such as the Letters for Seniors campaign we ran in Winter 2020, and currently she’s producing a series of videos for our Annual General Meeting. When the team takes itself too seriously, we can count on Jocelyne to lighten the mood with her witty remarks. “I’m ok being the person who makes us laugh when we need to laugh,” says Jocelyne. “We’re all working really hard in the healthcare and social services sector and sometimes we focus so much on completing these big important projects that we forget to enjoy ourselves.”

Although she likes her work-life to be fast-paced, she prefers her personal life to be calm. “If I wrote a book about my life, the title would be Peanut Butter, PJs and Naps,” says Jocelyne. “Those are all the things that make me happy. I love peanut butter—and no, I don’t mean between two slices of bread. I eat it right off the spoon. I would be in my PJs 24/7 if I could. And I’m a napper. I will crush a nap on the weekends.” After a good nap and a spoonful of peanut butter, Jocelyne will wrap up her weekends with a walk alongside her partner. If there’s no snow, she will be in her sandals. “The first snowfall is always a big dreadful day for me because it means I have to start wearing shoes,” says Jocelyne. “When I was a toddler and my dad picked me up from daycare, he would scold me because by the time we got home I had pulled my shoes and socks off. I did that every single time. Ever since I was young my toes have wanted to be free.”
