Dan’s Message | Summer 2020

10 September, 2020 | From the Heart

Following many months of dialogue and discernment, we are excited to be announcing an official name change and new visual identity for the Catholic Health Corporation of Manitoba. We were created in 2000 and entrusted by pioneering women religious for the future of this mission. As they did before us, we continue to bring people together of all faiths, traditions, and cultures who want to be signs of compassion and hope.

And as we move forward, we will remain rooted and inspired by their continued ask of us: “When it comes to being there for people in their time of need…just love them”.

We are delighted to introduce Réseau Compassion Network. More than just a new name, logo and fresh website, this next step in our journey provides us with a renewed sense of purpose and focus. As a contemporary expression of the healing ministry of Jesus here in Manitoba, we are called us to empower people, and generate community solutions that help to prevent and to alleviate suffering, in areas where the needs are the greatest. We invite you to join us in this change and look forward to sharing more with you in the months to come.

As we wrap up summer after a challenging spring, the spirit and intent of our mission has never been more important. In dealing with massive change due to Covid-19, we were able to find ways to support people in community and to find opportunities to support the staff in our network who have been working so hard at adapting continuously to an ever-changing pandemic environment. This month’s e-newsletter highlights some of the tireless efforts at ActionMarguerite to keep families connected, and also lists some mental health resources that are available online for staff and families alike.

Thank you again to all of you who continue to be signs of compassion and hope. We trust that you had some time this summer to refresh and renew so that you are able to continue to engage with what may unfold in the fall. Whatever it is you can to do to take care of yourself, know that you are appreciated by all those in your care, and by those who love them.

Wishing you all a safe and peaceful start to fall!

Daniel Lussier
