Recently, the St. Boniface Hospital board of directors announced that Martine Bouchard, their President and CEO, will be stepping down from her post effective October 15th, 2021.
Bouchard has been at the helm of the hospital for three years, and most notably, through the Covid-19 pandemic up to this point. “She has all the skills and competence of a health care leader but it’s her humanity and deep caring for people that really struck me,” said Réseau Compassion Network CEO, Daniel Lussier. “She was dedicated to her team and the hospital, but most of all, she was always focused on patients. She really brought humanity to the forefront of the hospital.”
Known for her frequent communication with staff through Martine’s Notes, an e-publication issued from her office, Bouchard also issued countless updates to staff about Covid-19 as it grew in the city and staff were called upon to deal with incredibly challenging circumstances. “She also helped guide us towards an upcoming Emergency Department renovation and the completed Psychiatric wing renovation, which really speak again to her commitment to the patient experience,” adds Lussier.
While Martine and her gifts will be missed at the hospital, its leadership is in good hands. “I have total confidence in the board of directors as they move forward in not only the operations of the hospital but also in their search for a new President and CEO,” Lussier confirms.
In the meantime, Nicole Aminot, Chief Financial Officer, has agreed to act as Interim CEO. “Nicole knows our community and our hospital well,” explains Lussier. “There’s a sense of continuity there and we’re so thankful for her steady hand. Her 12 years with the hospital have prepared her for this role and will ensure a smooth transition for staff, patients and the community at large.”
On behalf of Réseau Compassion Network, we wish Martine all the best in the future and thank her for her leadership over the past three years. Au revoir, Martine!
