In 2021, St. Boniface Hospital celebrated 150 years of care and compassion in Manitoba. Founded by the Grey Nuns in 1871, a modest four-bed hospital grew into a centre of excellence for cardiac care, a research centre that ranks among the best in the country, a busy emergency room for those in need, and a space for healing for Manitobans from all corners of the province. What hasn’t changed through the years are the stories and emotions of those who enter the hospital seeking answers, care, compassion and reassurance. The spirit of the hospital and the care provided by our incredible front-line staff has been a constant through years of change, difficult moments, powerful innovations and to say the least, a global pandemic.
To all those who have worked or volunteered to support those in need over the course of 150 years: thank you. You are the heart of our community and our words can never express all you have meant to us.
This short clip features our CEO, Daniel Lussier, as he so beautifully expresses all the ways that St. Boniface Hospital has been l’hôpital de chez nous throughout the past 150 years.
