Uniting Hearts: CHAC Conference Comes to Winnipeg

29 April, 2024 | Initiatives and Projects

On May 8 to 10th, the Catholic Health Association of Canada (CHAC) Annual Conference is coming back to Winnipeg. Réseau Compassion Network (RCN) is proud to be co-presenting this year’s event, which will welcome hundreds of delegates, who are called together by the conference theme: Get to the Heart of It: Being, Caring, Doing.

“We continue to hear from our colleagues here and across the country that our heart is sometimes the most important gift we bring to work,” shares RCN’s CEO, Daniel Lussier. “This conference gives all of us a chance to pause, be together, learn from each other and move forward with renewed purpose.”

The conference is set up to offer many opportunities for interaction and reflection. A combination of keynote speakers, interactive sessions, panel discussions and breakout rooms will give participants the means to explore how they can create meaningful connections through their actions and by practicing true presence.

Keynote speakers include Louise Hawkley, a nationally recognized expert on loneliness and health during aging, Lee Tomlinson “Patient Lee”, a cancer survivor, TED speaker and author, and Zofia Dove, an expert in Palliative Communication who currently works as a Spiritual Health Practitioner at Actionmarguerite.

Réseau Compassion Network is well-represented during the three-day conference. Daniel Lussier is one of the conference weavers, designated to help attendees reflect on their learnings. He and our Director of Culture and Compassion, Jennifer Kilimnik, will also be a hosting a bus tour that will visit our member Centre Flavie to see how they are responding to the needs of hundred of families every day, followed by a tour of the McLaren Hotel to see how RCN is trying to do its part by contributing to this major project to modernize the building and provide safe affordable housing with support services.

Andrew Terhoch, Spiritual Health Practitioner at St.Amant and for RCN, will be presenting with his friend Kalvin Kristjansson on a first-person perspective on vulnerability and trust in support relationships. We will also hear from David Stewart, manager of Education and Training at Sara Riel and Bre Brown, Coordinator, Community Connections at St.Amant.
