On Tuesday, August 30, Centre Flavie hosted over 150 people at the official opening of their new location at 301 Archibald Street. In the presence of dignitaries, funders and community leaders, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held, followed by a community barbeque.
The new building, which was purpose-built for Centre Flavie, has doubled the capacity of items that can be redistributed, free of charge, to those in need. While many in attendance marvelled at the number of items the space can hold, Executive Director Gilbert Vielfaure underlines that, “This might seem like a lot, but when we open our doors to the public tomorrow, most of this will be taken almost immediately. The need is always so great.”
The day also marked the launch of Boutique Unique, a vintage shop hosted within the building that will add an important revenue stream for the non-profit organization, which distributed over 54,000 household items in 2019 alone.
Bravo, Centre Flavie!
